Truck stop restaurants are usually a safe bet for good food
and service. Truckers look for good home-cooked food to keep them going; fast
food doesn't work for those folks. A bad review from a trucker can spread fast
and severely damage the reputation of a restaurant. With all the truckers on
the road, any restaurant on a major highway is going to have plenty of
opportunities to prove what they can do, otherwise, they won't be in business
for long.
The Iron Skillet at the Petro Shopping Center in North
Little Rock, Arkansas on I-40 is a good one.
We had been on the road all day, and we were looking for something better than fast food, and less than 5-star dining. Although none of us had ever eaten at an Iron Skillet, we had seen several along the highway that day and decided to give it a try.

As with most truck stops and associated restaurants, the
Iron Skillet is right off the highway and easy to get to – no need to try to
navigate through an unfamiliar town. After being on the road all day, the last
thing we wanted was to hunt for a place to eat. The easy access to the Iron
Skillet was the first selling point. Even though it was dinnertime and the
restaurant was busy, it was big enough to accommodate the diners with no
waiting. We were shown to a table immediately, and within minutes, a server
took our drink order.
Our server returned minutes later and took our food order.
She was friendly, quick, efficient, and helpful when several of our party had
questions about the menu items. Our food was delivered in a reasonable amount
of time, and we settled in to our meal.
The restaurant was clean, the service was prompt and
friendly, the food was great, and the prices were reasonable. What else do you
want from a restaurant? The Iron Skillet was the perfect choice for us that
day.
The next time you're looking for a great place to eat and
don't want to break the bank, look for that Iron Skillet sign.
