You have to appreciate the humor behind the slogan on the
door of their stores: "No shirtzsky,
no shoezsky, no Schlotzsky." Schlotzsky's makes one of the most unique
sandwiches anywhere - The Original® (yes, it's a registered trademark). What
began in a small store on South Congress Street in Austin, Texas in 1971, grew
to more than 350 stores, primarily in the southern and southeastern US.
We have visited our local Schlotzsky's at least fifty times
over the past ten years, and they have always come through. The location in
what used to be the Albertson's plaza, now Gold's Gym on the West Central Texas
Expressway in Killeen, has certainly seen many different managers and employees
over that span. However, the level of customer service and care remained
constant and excellent. The Schlotzsky's people are unfailingly friendly in
this store.
The food quality is equally excellent. Every order from this
store has been correct, with perfect sandwiches and pizza made with fresh
ingredients. Even the best fast food stores occasionally have lapses in food
quality – not at this Schlotzsky's. We have never had cause to complain about
their food; it has been consistently excellent for a decade.
If you've never been to Schlotzsky's, do yourself a favor.
The Original® is probably their most popular offering, but the menu has a
variety of sandwiches, pizzas, soups, and salads that should satisfy any hungry
diner.
We appreciate having such a go-to place. When you know the
food will be great and the staff will be friendly, why go anywhere else? Of
course, we always wear our shirtzskys and our shoezskys, so we can get our
Schlotzsky's.
